In industrial production settings, boilers are not only major energy-consuming equipment but also a significant source of flue gas emissions. Combustion efficiency not only affects a company’s production costs but also directly impacts the safe operation of equipment and environmental compliance. Carbon monoxide is a key indicator of incomplete fuel combustion; abnormally high concentrations signify fuel waste and can also pose safety hazards. Oxygen content directly reflects the excess air ratio and serves as a critical basis for evaluating boiler combustion conditions. Therefore, the rapid and accurate acquisition of real-time CO and O₂ detection data from boiler flue gas has become a priority for factory operations and maintenance.

A certain manufacturing enterprise operates multiple industrial boilers. In the past, combustion parameters were adjusted based on manual experience, lacking real-time quantitative data to support the process, resulting in a lack of precision in combustion adjustments. After introducing Zetron’s MS600-FG portable flue gas analyzer, the enterprise implemented systematic on-site monitoring of CO and O₂ levels in boiler flue gas. The device features a built-in anti-kink sampling hose, effectively preventing gas leaks and ensuring stable and reliable test results. Additionally, equipped with a stainless steel sampling probe and a conical stop valve, it is compatible not only with industrial boilers but also with combustion equipment such as household stoves and water heaters, offering strong adaptability to various scenarios.

During on-site operations, testing personnel insert the MS600-FG’s stainless steel probe into the boiler flue’s sampling port. The device’s built-in pump-driven sampling system automatically draws in flue gas, and the sensors rapidly provide real-time readings of CO and O₂ concentrations.

Field test results showed that under the boiler’s original operating conditions, CO concentrations were elevated while O₂ levels were low—indicating incomplete fuel combustion and resulting in unnecessary energy loss. After the operations and maintenance team optimized combustion parameters based on the instrument’s data, they conducted a follow-up verification test using the MS600‑FG. The results revealed a significant reduction in CO concentration, with O₂ levels returning to the normal range, effectively improving the boiler’s combustion performance.

The MS600-FG can simultaneously detect 1 to 6 gases, with over 500 selectable gas types, and supports multi-parameter expanded monitoring, making it suitable for commissioning and calibration work on various types of boilers. The unit is lightweight and can withstand the harsh on-site conditions of boiler rooms, including high temperatures and high dust levels.

Whether for single-point testing of a single boiler or continuous monitoring and tracking of combustion conditions across an entire plant, the MS600-FG portable flue gas analyzer helps plants move away from experience-based commissioning toward data-driven, scientific combustion management. As global energy efficiency regulations and emissions standards continue to tighten, the practical value of portable flue gas analysis equipment in industrial settings will become even more evident.

This boiler inspection demonstrated that the Zetron MS600-FG’s powerful multi-gas expansion capabilities and flexible adaptability to various scenarios not only meet current boiler calibration needs but can also be extended to energy efficiency diagnostics and emissions monitoring for all types of combustion equipment, providing reliable data support for enterprises’ green and low-carbon production.
